Worldwide Day of Prayer & Fasting

Published by sjp08 at 3:32 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

With just 10 days left before E-Day, we’ve seen the race for the Presidency of the United States heating up in ways that were unimaginable three months ago. The verbal attacks against Senator Obama’s person are not only alarming but extremely dangerous. As such, it is fitting that a day prayer and fasting has now been called for November 3rd, the day before E-Day. Read details here.

Great! I am so pleased! Please feel free, if you are so inclined, to announce this effort on your blog. We need all the prayer we can get!

I am already praying and fasting and will continue to through election day. I am praying that the man who will uphold God’s laws is elected…such as the right of the child in the womb to live… Proverbs says that God hates the hands of those who shed innocent blood. As thrilled as I would be to finally see an african american man or woman become our president, I absolutely cannot compromise and go against the Word of God! We will all be held accountable before God for how we vote on election day! Lord Jesus, cause your church to awake out of their slumber and to take a stand for righteousness!!!

d.b, I am happy that you are praying for God’s will and grace be gifts received by our citizenry and our leaders. With respect to your vote, you must vote for the individual with whom you believe supports the issues and concerns for which you are most interested. And as such, and because the issue of abortion is of obvious deep concern to you, it would certainly be against your own judgement not to vote for Senator McCain. But, I must say that I believe that God will hold us all much more accountable for much more than how we vote next Tuesday. Because being pro-choice is an issue of privacy, those who make the decision to have an abortion may be very well be held accountable before God, but I doubt that my vote to preserve the right to privacy for the citizenry will be held at the same level of accountability.

The Bible says that we all fall short. And that does not exclude any leader - current or past - of the US or the world.

But, having said that, please know that this day of prayer is not asking God to to allow Barack Obama to win this election. It is for God to have His Way in this election AND that we all - regardless of the outcome - be united under his leadership. And while we are indeed praying for Obama’s safety, Senator McCain and Governor Palin’s safety is not excluded. As there are some crazy, irrationale people in our society who would seek to cause harm to an indidvidual(s) with whom we do not agree.

Much obliged, D. B. for praying for God to have His Way and for being Good and in control.
